Katy Perry's victory in the battle against Taylor Swift in Forbess top-paid women for music may titillate those who love low-grade pop mutton. However, the true excitement and the possibility of a challenge to their status lies further farther down Forbess top 10. Helene Fisher ranks at the number. 8 just below Rihanna but ahead of Celine and Britney. Who? There is one thing that's certain the super-star of German-Russian descent who shuts her mouth to keep the appeal of a normal woman. One thing that stands out through her interviews is her passion for homemade flavoured butter. Also, her boyfriend was also a German television star who had her face tattooed onto his arm. Fischer 34, in tame biographical terms, is the star of Germanys Schlager scene. The music is oriented in two distinct directions. The second song is a more bierhalle beat that moves through the topics of booze girls as well as the German. Fischer is its reverse: the faithful wife whose breath and heart stop when she imagines her man being manipulated by his female weakness into a game to enthuse protective instincts. Schlager was a reaction to the vile west-pop which swept through Germany after the war. The themes of the show are timeless. Infinite Schlager television specials, Fischer shows them each Christmas. They are a cloying performance of the best stars, which makes Jools Annual Hootenanny sound similar to channel 4s clubs X. Schlager shares the down-home spirit of country music, and Fischer has given it an aggressive synth-pop twist in the manner of Fischer was German Taylor Swift. While Swifts pop evolution was cool, it's difficult to quantify how much critical love there is for Fischers rather terrible music.
